Gastonia police seek clues in women’s car wreck death

Gastonia police are asking the public’s help in determining why a woman lost control of her car in a fatal wreck Wednesday.

Police say 31-year-old Jennifer Hames Huffman of Bessemer City died when her 1991 Acura Integra crashed sometime Wednesday in the 2400 block of Bessemer City Road.

Sgt. K.C. McCabe says Hames appeared to be driving southbound, just south of Oates Road, when her car crossed the center line, over the northbound lanes, then through a parking lot and down an embankment. The wrecked car was discovered about 5:15 p.m. by a person who was out for a walk.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact police at 704-842-5168.
