Matchup to Watch

Al Jefferson vs. Spencer Hawes: Hawes is having a strong early season, but a now-healthy Jefferson is posting 20-point/10-rebound games regularly. Sensational rookie point guard Michael Carter-Williams will miss this game for the Sixers with a sore knee.

Observations

• The Bobcats give up the fewest points in the paint in the NBA, at 33.667 per game.

• Sixers forward Evan Turner could be called Evan Turnover, averaging 3.6 giveaways a game.

• Sixers center Spencer Hawes is averaging a double-double in points and rebounds, plus three assists per game.

• Jeff Taylor steps up to a bigger role now with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist hurt. Taylor hasn’t reached double figures scoring in eight games.

Tap-ins

• Ben Gordon has played in each of the past three games. He’s 4-of-16 from the field in that span.

• With Al Jefferson back healthy, Bismack Biyombo has been limited to 10 minutes in each of the past two games.

Did you know?

Jefferson has three consecutive double-doubles (averaging 19.3 points/12.2 rebounds). Gerald Wallace, traded in 2011, was the last Bobcat to string together three double-doubles.
