Cornelius team wins at STEM event

Cornelius Elementary’s “Robo-Hurricane Crew” finished first among 24 schools in the core values category at a Nov. 24 STEM competition in Concord.

The students created a presentation to show their research and problem-solving skills related to natural disasters. The core values category includes inspiration, teamwork and gracious professionalism (valuing one another’s ideas). Many competing teams were from CMS schools.

Cornelius has won other categories in past competitions, but this was its first win in core values. Fourth-grade team members are Emily Guerry, Nick Parrott and Meghan Wentz. Fifth-graders are Ayush Bodhale, Landon Edge, Reilly McDowell, Alexis McNeilis and Paige Siggins.
