It’s a busy weekend for holiday parades, festivals

This is a busy weekend for Christmas parades and festivals across the Charlotte region, but event organizers will be keeping an eye on the weather.

No problems are likely for Friday’s events, such as the Rock Hill parade and tree lighting ceremonies in Harrisburg and Stallings. Forecasters are calling for warm and dry conditions.

Saturday’s events also should go off without a hitch, meteorologists say, with rain ending early in the morning and the next rain system not arriving until late at night. The Saturday schedule includes the annual North Mecklenburg Christmas Parade and the Fort Mill Christmas Parade, along with the holiday festival in Matthews.

Inclement weather is forecast for Sunday, however, when parades are scheduled in Gastonia and Statesville.
