12 arrests at Charlotte DWI checkpoint

Police made 12 arrests on driving under the influence during a DWI checkpoint overnight in the South End area of Charlotte.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, assisted by Pineville and Matthews police, conducted the checkpoint from 11 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday in the 9300 block of South Boulevard.

The total number of charges and citations:

DWI: 12

Driving with license revoked: 5

No operator’s license: 24

Drug charges: 3

Open container violations: 4

Other traffic citations: 17

Outstanding warrants: 2
