“Happiness lies not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort.”-Franklin Delano Roosevelt

There is tremendous satisfaction in knowing a much hoped for dream has become a reality.

An entire community came together to pledge and promote safe driving; while the full impact of this heightened awareness may never be known, another outcome is perfectly clear…

I am thrilled to say David W. Butler High School finished within the ranks of the top fifty large high schools that competed nationally last October in State Farm’s “Celebrate My Drive” campaign.

I never doubted it.  I truly believed it COULD and WOULD happen all along, from the first tentative conversation with Mrs. Prevatte (the coach of Butler’s DREAM Team) until the very last day of commitment pledges on October 26.

Last Tuesday, I witnessed the presentation of the twenty-five thousand dollar grant check by local State Farm agent Darin Morton to Butler principal Will Leach and the entire DREAM Team.

What an awesome way to start the Thanksgiving holiday…25,000 additional reasons to be thankful…

I felt numerous emotions as watched from the side of the room; I thought my heart would burst from the excitement of it all…

It was one of the happiest moments I’ve experienced during the last five years…

I am so proud, amazed and humbled by the dedication and effort of those who worked together tirelessly and made this happen.

Something remarkable was accomplished…and now a new legacy has been created…

I have said it before, but it bears repeating: my heartfelt appreciation goes out to everyone who participated in the “Celebrate My Drive” campaign.  Teen (and adult) driver safety awareness was emphasized for ten consecutive days; future accidents may have been averted and countless lives may have been saved because of this endeavor.

And that, my friends, is priceless…  Thank you for your support!

Tammy will update her blog twice weekly…
