Wine and cheese classes

Orrman’s Cheese Shop and Assorted Table Wine Shoppe offer a wine and cheese class the first and third Wednesday of each month. The next class will feature sparkling wines from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Seventh Street Public Market, 224 E. Seventh St. Classes are $20 per person and capped at 12 people to maintain a personalized learning experience. A refund is given with 48-hour cancellation. To register: 980-226-3025.

Chick-fil-A “First 100”

The Chick-fil-A at 1006 Burkemont Ave. in Morganton will hold its grand opening Thursday, and the first 100 adults in line will receive a one-year supply of free Chick-fil-A meals. The line officially opens at 6 a.m. Wednesday and the free meal cards will be awarded around 6 a.m. Thursday. The restaurant will open immediately after. Top 2013 food crazes

Based on daily search habits of the millions who use its search engine, Yahoo released its annual Year in Review for 2013. In addition to documenting top stories, trends and events, the review also lists the top-searched recipes, “how to cook” instructions (spaghetti squash took the top spot), cookie recipes and more. Yahoo’s 2013 top 10 food crazes in order: cronuts, coconut oil, Twinkies, ramen burger, Dorito loco taco, kale, froyo, chia seeds, Sriracha and pretzel burger. “Italian Holidays”
