Congestion is easing but remains a problem on some Charlotte-area roadways at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Slowdowns due to heavy traffic volume are being reported on southbound Interstate 77 in the Huntersville area and on portions of Independence Boulevard inbound, Providence Road inbound, and the outer loop of Interstate 485 near Pineville.
The most recent injury collision is a two-vehicle crash on Monroe Road at Washburn Avenue, just east of Briar Creek Road.
One vehicle involved in the crash hit a power pole, and the other car slammed into the brick side of Holiday Dry Cleaners. The two drivers suffered minor injuries.
In addition, motorists should note that one outbound lane of Central Avenue is closed near Pecan Avenue, while crews film the pilot for “The Novice.” Filming for this pilot caused a massive traffic jam Tuesday morning in Charlotte’s uptown, but the impact today in the Plaza Midwood area appears to be much less.
A few patches of ice were reported around the region Wednesday morning, with temperatures dropping to 22 degrees in Charlotte. But there were no reports of ice causing problems for motorists.
