Business travelers need special homes

Turns out people who travel often for business might need to make a special wish list when they shop for a home.

As the economy heads toward recovery and business travel resumes, housing experts offer these tips for house hunters who spend at a good bit of their time on the road:

• Start by writing down specifics of when and where you travel, suggests Merrill Ottwein, president of the National Association of Exclusive Buyer Agents.

• Consider a “hybrid” home community, where you may get some upkeep services, says Sid Davis, author of “A Survival Guide for Buying a Home.”

• Seek out a cul-de-sac setting. “Usually, people living on a cul-de-sac help each other out, which can be great for the business traveler,” Ottwein says.
