North Carolina coach Roy Williams is seeking more offensive balance, and with good reason. The Tar Heels 23 3-pointers this season rank 347th nationally. This is the third game against a ranked team for UNC, which beat then-No. 3 Louisville and then-No. 1 Michigan State. Kennedy Meeks of Charlotte, the Tar Heels freshman forward, had his two best games against Louisville (13 points and 12 rebounds) and Michigan State (15 points and seven rebounds). ... Kentucky freshman forward Julius Randle (17.8 ppg, 12.0 rpg) has had double-digit points and rebounds in eight of the Wildcats first 10 games.
Detroit (5-5) at N.C. State (6-2)

N.C. State takes its four-game winning streak to Reynolds Coliseum, where the Wolfpack will host Detroit. The Packs last game was on Dec. 7, when it beat Long Beach State 76-66. The win was the teams fourth in a row, coinciding with the return of 7-1 senior center Jordan Vandenberg. Forward T.J. Warren, the ACCs leading scorer, poured in 23 points. Detroit is 5-5 this season after defeating Rhode Island on Dec. 8. The Titans, who made the 2012 NCAA tournament by winning the Horizon League, are led by Juwan Howard Jr., who averages 16.9 points per game.

Johnson C. Smith is coming off a one-point overtime loss on Monday to Wingate, a game in which the Bulls got off to a disastrous start but still led by seven with under three minutes left in regulation. ... King has played five of its past six games away from home.

Queens Jarrett Stokes is sixth in the SAC in scoring, averaging 20.4 points per game. The senior guard is coming off a season-high 33-point performance in the Royals win this week over Tusculum. ... The Tornados have lost three in a row. Darius Moose leads Brevard, averaging 18.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
