Charlotte man killed in Utah wreck

SPRINGVILLE, Utah A Charlotte man visiting relatives in Utah during the Christmas season was killed in a two-vehicle wreck, police say.

Worth Randall “Randy” Rummage, 62, died when the car he was driving was struck by another vehicle Sunday afternoon, according to police in Springville, Utah.

The driver of the other vehicle faces charges, said police in Springville, which is 50 miles south of Salt Lake City and 6 miles south of Provo.

According to the police report, Rummage was driving a Honda Accord westbound in the 1400 block of North Main Street about 2:30 p.m. when the car was broadsided by a Jeep Liberty. Police say Rummage was trapped in the vehicle but freed and rushed to a hospital. He died of his injuries, police say.

The driver of the Jeep, identified by police as 48-year-old Bryan Long of Springville, was not seriously injured. Police say they believe Long ran a red light and hit Rummage’s vehicle.

Police say charges are pending against Long.
