11 cited for underage drinking at York party

SMYRNA Eleven people, ranging in age from 18 to 20, were cited early Sunday for underage drinking at a party in York County, the sheriff’s office says.

The incident was reported about 1:30 a.m. at a residence in the 2300 block of McGill Road, in the Smyrna community. That is in the western part of the county, a few miles west of York.

Deputies say they received a tip about the party and arrived to find a number of underage people drinking alcohol.

They said two people – a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old girl – were at the party but had not been drinking, as they were supposed to be the designated drivers. The two were not cited, deputies say.

Those who were cited were turned over “to a responsible party,” according to a sheriff’s office report.
