Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have charged four men in a break-in before daybreak Sunday in the Mountain Island area of northwest Charlotte.
Police say they received a call about 4 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 12600 block of Preservation Pointe Drive, a short distance from Mountain Island Lake.
Residents of the home told officers they were awakened to find several men inside their home, stealing items. The men fled when they saw the residents awake. A resident chased the suspects but stopped when one man turned and pointed a gun at him.
Police say they got a good description of the suspects’ getaway vehicle, a Nissan Altima, and officers spotted the car trying to flee the neighborhood.
After conducting interviews, investigators charged four men with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, and first-degree burglary of an occupied residence.
The suspects were identified as Marcus Allen, 17; Kendrick Barnette, 17; Antoine Harris, 21; and Kelvin Martinez, 18.
The home’s occupants were not injured.
