High school wrestler from Cabarrus collapses at meet

A Mount Pleasant High School wrestler collapsed Tuesday night after a match against Forest Hills in Union County, a Cabarrus County schools spokeswoman said Wednesday.

Trainers at the even responded quickly to aid the student, spokeswoman Ronnye Boone said

He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Union in Monroe, then later to Levine’s Children’s Hospital, Boone said. She said he remains at the hospital Wednesday morning but did not immediately know what his condition was.

WBTV reported that firefighters said the student had a pulse and was breathing when he was taken to the hospital.
