Courtyards at Brawley Point

The Courtyards at Brawley Point in Mooresville, a new development by Epcon Communities, will feature 30 free-standing and maintenance-free homes when it’s completed. Each home will have a private outdoor courtyard, island kitchen and 2.5-car garage and will be available in one of three floor plans ranging from 1,500 to nearly 3,000 square feet. Homes will have base prices in the $200,000s. The development is tentatively scheduled to open in early next spring. More information is available at the Lake Norman Sales Center, 8600 Sam Furr Road in Huntersville, across from Birkdale Village.

Realtor awards

More than 400 area Realtors met Dec. 13 for the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association/Carolina Multiple Listing Services Inc. 2013 Holiday Awards Luncheon and Annual Meeting. Members donated more than 500 toys to the Salvation Army of Charlotte. Here are a few of those who were honored.

2013 Realtor of the Year: Donna Anderson, Realtor/broker with Cottingham Chalk Hayes Realtors. This is the association’s highest honor. Anderson’s leadership and volunteer work spans years, including service with numerous realty organizations and associations, as well as support of the American Red Cross, The Alzheimer’s Association and Victory Junction.

2013 Vane Mingle Rookie of the Year: Jeffrey Clay, Realtor with Keller Williams-Ballantyne. This award is given to the new Realtor who excels in his or her new profession. Clay closed 19 individual sales and was an active volunteer with the association and in the community.

President’s Award: Anne Marie Howard has been CEO of the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association since February 2001 and was general counsel for the association seven months prior to her appointment, as well as other previous leadership roles. Howard earned her law degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., while working full time on Capitol Hill. She now makes monthly television appearances to discuss real estate-related news.

President’s 2013 Committee Chair of the Year: Scott Wurtzbacher, Realtor/broker and owner of The W Realty Group, Inc. Wurtzbacher has been an association member since 2003, volunteers in a number of association-related capacities and serves in multiple leadership roles. “Holiday House”

During the week of Dec. 9, Saussy Burbank/JCB Urban worked with subcontractors and tradesman to provide a home rehab to 84-year-old Margie Meadows of Mooresville. Meadows still lives in the home her late husband built in 1946 after returning from service in World War II. The floor had separated from the wall in the living room, and joists and banding in the floor needed replacement.

This is the sixth year a “Holiday House” rehab project has been conducted through Davidson Housing Coalitions’ Hands Around Mecklenburg-Mooresville Making Emergency Repairs Safely (HAMMERS) program. Details: davidsonhousing.org.
