Today’s traffic: Lane closed on Wilkinson Blvd.

Motorists might find delays for the rest of Friday on westbound Wilkinson Boulevard in west Charlotte.

The N.C. Department of Transportation says it has closed one of the three outbound lanes for the rest of the day.

Crews closed the lane Thursday afdter discovering a collapsed box culvert under the road. State engineers are working today to determine the extend of the damage and what type of repairs might be needed.

Otherwise, the biggest traffic problems at 9:30 a.m. are in southern Mecklenburg County.

Police are working to clear wrecks on Johnston, Park and Ardrey Kell roads.

The good news: Congestion problems are disappearing with the end of the morning commute.

Here is the 9:30 a.m. update:

Downtown Concord closure: Crews have closed the southbound right turn lane on Church Street, between Means Avenue SE and Corban Avenue SE, until 5 p.m. This is being done due to demolition work at the old Cabarrus County Jail.

I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; traffic moving 30-40 mph from George Liles Parkway (Exit 54) down to Mallard Creek Church Road (Exit 46).

I-485 outer loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion and construction-related delays.
