Caldwell man sentenced in robbery

NEWTON A Caldwell County man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison for his role in a robbery nine months ago in Hickory, authorities say.

Larry Eugene Robbins, 25, of Hudson, was convicted earlier this week in a Catawba County court of robbery with a dangerous weapon and first-degree burglary.

He was sentenced by Judge Timothy Kincaid to between 52 and 75 months in prison.

Hickory police said Robbins and two other men forced their way into a home in March and robbed a resident at gunpoint. They were accused of stealing a 50-inch television set and an electronic game device valued at more than $1,200.

Police accused Robbins of driving the getaway vehicle.
