Man killed in uptown shooting; suspect questioned

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are investigating a gunshot killing of a man in the 400 block of East Trade Street on Saturday night.

Detectives determined that the victim was involved in a fist fight in the parking lot. During the fight an unknown suspect shot the victim, police said. Surveillance cameras in the area captured the fight and a possible suspect vehicle leaving the scene.

Witnesses on the scene provided the license plate information to arriving officers for the possible suspect vehicle and that was broadcast to surrounding divisions. A short time later an accident was reported at the 3100 block of Rozzelles Ferry Road involving the possible suspect vehicle.

Officers arrived on the scene and located one subject still in the vehicle and determined another subject had fled on foot.

The captured subject is being questioned by homicide detectives.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a detective.
