Charlotte area foreclosure rate falls in October

Foreclosure rates in the Charlotte area fell in October from the same month last year, according to recently released data by CoreLogic.

In the Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill area, the rate of foreclosures among outstanding mortgage loans was 1.61 percent, down from 2.83 percent a year ago, the Irvine, Calif.-based company said.

The Charlotte-area foreclosure rate for October was also below the national rate of 2.15 percent.

Fewer mortgages were delinquent in the Charlotte area in October from a year ago, CoreLogic said. In October, 4.75 percent of loans were 90 days or more delinquent, a decline from 6.30 percent in October 2012.
