Fire damages North Tryon auto repair shop

No injuries were reported when fire damaged an auto repair shop early Friday on North Tryon Street, fire officials say.

The blaze was reported about 1:30 a.m. at the shop, on North Tryon at East 27th Street. Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the building when they arrived.

Charlotte fire Capt. Rob Brisley said it took a crew of 27 firefighters about 15 minutes to subdue the blaze. He said the company plans to continue operations Friday.

The cause of the blaze was accidental, Brisley said, and was due to electrical problems.
