Whether it’s New Year's Eve or your wedding day, you don’t want your look to smudge, melt, fade or go flat. You want to enjoy the moment and the last thing you should be worrying about is your hair and make-up. That’s why I’m sharing some must have products for your beauty arsenal.

Primetime

One of the keys to keeping your make-up in tact is giving it a solid base. Use a face primer before putting on your foundation. Depending on the type of primer you use and your skin type, this easy addition to your beauty routine can add hours of staying power for your look. My skin is combination and my biggest pet peeve is getting a shiny T-zone. Estee Lauder’s Matte Perfecting Primer is my personal favorite. Everyone’s skin is different so you have to find a primer that works best for you. Smashbox is a great brand to try first because they offer a wide variety of primers for different needs/skin types.

Another must have product for a night out is eyelid primer. I love TheBalm’s Put a Lid on It eyelid primer. I received it in a Birchbox and fell in love with it. It keeps my eye shadow in place and crease-free. Many women I know also love Urban Decay’s Eye Shadow Primer Potion and Shadow Assurance by Too Faced.

Set it up

After you complete your hair and make-up look you need to set it. Because of my skin’s tendency to get shiny, I set my make-up with Laura Mercier’s loose powder. You can set your look with a loose or pressed powder depending on your preference. For pressed powder, I really like Rimmel’s Stay Matte. For extra make-up insurance you can also opt for a setting spray. Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray is one of the best setting sprays out there. They also offer an oil control setting spray called De-Slick.

I can’t talk about setting without bringing up hair. Nothing is worse than your hair going flat on a night out, which is why every girl needs a good hair spray. I love Loreal’s Elnett Hair Spray in the unscented version. It keeps my hair in place without giving it the crispy hair spray feel.
