Commitment Day

The Charlotte Commitment Day 5K will be Wednesday morning in uptown. Race-day registration begins at 8 a.m., the 5K starts at 10 a.m. and a Kids Dash will start at 11 a.m. The race course starts on East Fourth Street and parking will be available in the Seventh Street parking deck and the Epicentre garage. Registration fees vary, but all increase on race day to $35 for Life Time Fitness members, $40 for the adult 5K and $25 for those 18 and younger. Mobile mammographies

The Belk Mobile Mammography Center will provide free mammograms at several Charlotte-area Belk stores on the following days: 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Belk Southpark, 4400 Sharon Road; 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Belk Carolina Place, 11009 Carolina Place Parkway, Pineville; and 9:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Saturday at Belk, Northlake, 7115 Northlake Mall Drive. The service is available to women age 40 and older with no breast concerns who have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months. Additional details and to schedule an appointment: 855-655-2662.

Health and Fitness Expo

This two-day event runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Park Expo and Conference Center, 2500 E. Independence Blvd. Orthocarolina Fight For Fitness is a new event this year and is a CrossFit challenge with scaled divisions. The expo also include a healthy cooking stage, 2014 Commitment mile run, a rotation of crowd-participation fitness classes, vendors and more. Admission is $5, kids 12 and under are free.
