Matchup to Watch

Kemba Walker vs. Damian Lillard: A challenging 48 hours for Walker, matched against Chris Paul Wednesday and now Lillard Thursday. Lillard had three straight games of 25 or more points recently.

Observations

The Blazers’ hot start has been built to a large degree on beating up on the East. They won their first 11 games against the Eastern Conference before Miami’s Chris Bosh beat them in Portland with a huge 3 during the weekend.

The Blazers aren’t just very good, they’re very young. Six players on this roster were born in the 1990s.

The Bobcats have struggled at times to effectively guard the 3-point line. Watch out for Wesley Matthews, who is making 44 percent of his 3s this season.

Former high pick Thomas Robinson is on his third team in two NBA seasons. He’s on the fringe of the Blazers’ rotation after being traded out of Sacramento and Houston.

Tap-ins

The Blazers play their third game in four nights, having been at New Orleans and Oklahoma City on Monday and Tuesday.

Robin Lopez has been a valuable addition to the Blazers – a rim-protector/rebounder on a team full of primarily offensive-oriented players.

The Bobcats have lost seven of their past eight against the Trail Blazers

Did you know?

Lillard-Matthews and Walker- Gerald Henderson are two of only three NBA backcourt pairings to start every game this season. The other is Toronto with Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan.
