Have you recovered from NYE yet? Well, you can continue the celebration with the first weekend in 2014. Here are some suggestions and a tribute to the best new additions to Charlotte nightlife in 2013 (drumroll, please)…

Friday

Kris Hitchcock at The Tin Roof (210 E. Trade St.). Charlotte’s newest music venue debuts with a rocking weekend with this country star. No cover, 10 p.m., 704-910-1330.

Saturday

Magna Carter Tour After Party, presented by D’usse Cognac, , at Label (900 NC Music Factory Blvd.). Like Jay-Z said, after the show it’s the after party, and said after party will be at Label and will be hosted by Jay-Z himself, as in Mr. Carter will actually be there, which means the D’usse Cognac will be flowing. 9 p.m., $50-$100, 704-910-0526.

Sunday

Winter Jam at Time Warner Cable Arena (333. E. Trade St.), featuring Newsboys, LeCrae, Tenth Avenue North, Thousand Foot Krutch and more. $10 at the door, 6 p.m., all ages, 704-688-9000.

Out with 2013, but cheers to the new …

Bradshaw Social House (8440 Rea Road). Ballantyne’s first gastropub, which opened this summer with 17 different beers on tap, and has been keeping south Charlotte happy and hydrated ever since. 704-543-7351, www.bradshawsocialhouse.com.

FireWater Lake Norman (20930 Torrence Chapel Rd.). FireWater first sprouted as an upscale nightlife addition to University, and shortly thereafter popped up in Lake Norman in a place where multiple venues would come and close. But much like 5 Church lifted a similar curse at Fifth and Church streets uptown, celebrating its one-year anniversary in 2013, FireWater is already proving to be a mainstay on the lake scene. 704-895-7907, www.firewatercharlotte.com.

And speaking of 5 Church, its owners added one of the several new hot spots heating up South End – The Stache House, Oak Room, Tupelo Honey Café, and Triple C Brewing Co. to name a few others – but I’m speaking of the new inhabitant of Vinnie’s Raw Bar, Nan and Byron’s (1714 South Blvd.), 980-224-7492, www.nanandbyrons.com.

And after years of waiting for it, the Bubble finally burst – as in Bubble opened in the EpiCentre (210 E. Trade St.), quickly becoming Charlotte’s premier champagne bar and lounge, 704-733-9427.
