Today’s traffic: Light traffic on interstates

Traffic on the first work day of the new year appears to be lighter than normal overall, and several earlier accidents are no longer causing problems for drivers.

Some people might be taking the rest of the week off, which would help with the traffic flow. And Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and other districts do not start back up until Monday.

Here is the latest information, as of 9:55 a.m.:

• There is an accident in the road in the 2800 block of N. Tryon Street, as of 9:43 a.m.

• There is an injury accident in the 4300 block of Statesville Road in north Charlotte north of Interstate 85, Interstate 77 and U.S. 21, as of 6:33 a.m.
