-
Suzanne “San” Owsley

District Court Judge Suzanne “San” Owsley, who has served 15 years as judge in Burke, Caldwell and Catawba counties, has announced her retirement effective New Year’s Day.

Owsley had worked for 16 years as an assistant district attorney before being elected to the bench in 1998.

She is seeking to be appointed by Gov. Pat McCrory to be an emergency district court judge, and fill in for judges throughout the state who are unavailable for court for medical or other reasons. McCrory is expected to appoint a judge to fill the remainder of Owsley’s term, which ends in December.
