On behalf of Bustle & Blush, Happy New Year everyone! As we head into 2014, it’s the perfect time to chat about this year’s wedding gown trends. And the collections for this year do not disappoint. Some of the gowns literally made me squeal with excitement! So while you lovely brides-to-be are out shopping for the perfect dress in 2014, be on the lookout for these amazing trends.

Lacy Sleeves

From short and delicate to long and dramatic, lacy sleeves adorned many of the dresses in the 2014 bridal collections. One of my absolute favorites is the Harper gown by Amsale. Its gorgeous long, lacy sleeves are longing for a crisp fall day and a flower crown (I’m still dreaming about it). Monique Lhuillier also showcased a variety lace gowns with a modern twist. With the many lace options, there’s sure to be something for every bride. The bottom line: you may think lace is old-fashioned and out of date but, honey, this ain’t your grandma’s lace.

I love the color blush (although I may be a little biased). So it’s no surprise that I love blush colored wedding dresses. These pink tinted gowns have been easing their way into bridal collections for the past few years but now they are in full force. I must admit, although I respect every bride’s individuality, I’m usually not a fan of colored wedding dresses. However, the blush color is so soft and dreamy that it makes everything okay. Not sure about blush for your big day? Hayley Paige’s Spring 2014 Collection will have you whistling a different tune.

Crisscross Backs

Another big 2014 wedding gown trend is the crisscross back and for good reason – they are gorgeous. Why only make a grand entrance when you can also make a grand exit? A crisscross backed gown can really add drama and sophistication to your look. The Calista gown from The Steve Birnbaum Collection is one of my favorites for this year. It’s the ultimate dress for a modern southern belle.

Vintage Glamour

This has to be my favorite wedding gown trend for 2014. Think old Hollywood – stunning silhouettes, beautiful embellishments and luxurious fabrics. Jenny Packham is the queen of vintage glamour and her newest collection is no exception. If you decide to go vintage glam on your big day, pair your gown with a sparkly hair accessory for some extra oomph.
