Fire destroys Gaston County home

A fire destroyed a Gaston County home Saturday afternoon, but no one was hurt.

About 2:15 p.m., the Gastonia Fire Department got a call about a fire in the 2100 block of Overhead Bridge Road, according to a news release. When firefighters got there, they found a one-story house fully involved with fire.

Twenty-five people worked for the next 20 minutes to extinguish the fire, which destroyed the house.

The Gaston County Fire Investigations Task Force said the fire was accidental.
