Time Warner Cable closes $600M DukeNet deal

Time Warner Cable said Monday it has closed on its $600 million purchase of Charlotte-based DukeNet Communications.

DukeNet is a regional fiber optic company serving businesses in the Carolinas and five other states in the Southeast. It had been co-owned by Duke Energy and Alinda Capital Partners.

The deal, announced in October, adds 8,700 miles to Time Warner’s fiber optic network serving business customers in the Southeast.

Time Warner will use the addition to connect business customers for voice, high-speed internet and cloud-enabled hosting services.
