Grand jury to consider evidence in deaths at Best Western in Boone

Investigators are expected to present evidence Wednesday to a grand jury in Boone that will consider possible criminal charges in the deaths last year at the Best Western hotel.

Prosecutors have scheduled a news conference at 4:30 p.m.

The grand jury was supposed to meet Monday, but the hearing was postponed due to the winter storm.

Three people died and a fourth person suffered serious injuries after being exposed to carbon monoxide that leaked into Room 225 from the hotel’s swimming pool water heater.
