Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon announced on Tuesday that Friday has been declared “FANFriday,” and encouraged Charlotteans to wear Carolina Panthers team colors or simply all black in support of the Panthers.

The Panthers take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in the NFL playoffs. Carolina will wear all black uniforms.

The city, businesses and other organizations in uptown Charlotte are getting in the spirit, putting up signs on bus shelters, over street banners and putting pro-Panthers messages on digital signs at EpiCentre.

Fans can also download posters at charlottecentercity.org.

City workers will place a large banner on the courthouse parking deck, and city buses and light rail cars will carry “Go Panthers” messages.
