Matchup to Watch

Kevin Love vs. Josh McRoberts/Cody Zeller: Love is a legitimate candidate for league most valuable player. He’s second in scoring and rebounding, and averaging over four assists per game – an incredibly versatile player.

Observations

• The Bobcats are struggling as much as at any time this season. They have lost six of their past seven, including a 30-point loss at Portland and a 14-point home loss to a Washington Wizards team that should be their peer. They hope to get back small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist from a broken left hand early next week.

• The Timberwolves are in a race with the Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns for the last two spots in the Western Conference playoffs. As strong as Minnesota’s Big Three (Love, Ricky Rubio and Nik Pekovic) is, this team gets little from the bench.

• Minnesota’s Rick Adelman is coaching his 23rd NBA season. He’s one of eight coaches to have won at least 1,000 NBA games joining, among others, former Bobcats coach Larry Brown.

Tap-ins

• The Timberwolves are 0-10 this season in games decided by four or fewer points.

• Wolves first-round pick Shabazz Muhammad has been sent to the Development League for playing time.

Did you know?

The Bobcats are 12-6 all-time versus the Timberwolves, their best such record against 29 NBA opponents. However, they’re 3-10 this season against the Western Conference.
