Man dies after fall at Crowders Mountain State Park

A man died Saturday after falling at Crowders Mountain State Park, Gastonia police confirmed Sunday.

The man was in his 50s, and the stormy weather appeared to be a contributing factor to the accident, Sgt. Laura Biggerstaff said.

Authorities received a call about the accident about 3:30 p.m., she said.

The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of his family, Biggerstaff said. She did not know the last time there was a fatal fall at the park.
