Agents uncover inactive meth lab in Fort Mill camper

FORT MILL York County drug agents uncovered an inactive meth lab at a Fort Mill camper Monday night after a “concerned citizen” reported suspicious activity.

Agents with the county’s multijurisdictional drug enforcement unit, county emergency management and York County Sheriff’s Office were sent to 1489 Dunwoody Ave., off U.S. 21, where they found Colton Osborne, 21, with several ingredients and instruments needed to operate meth labs, said Sgt. Rayford Ervin.

Authorities did not actually find any meth, but Obsorne had several precursors to making the addictive street drug, Ervin said. The amount of materials in his possession were enough to charge him with manufacturing methamphetamine. He is held at the York County Detention Center.

Officials found and dismantled 22 meth labs last year, more than double the amount they uncovered in 2012 and 2011.
