1 dies in I-77 wreck, traffic backed up for miles

One person has died in a fatal wreck on Interstate 77 near the South Carolina border that had traffic backed up for miles, according to firefighters.

The wreck happened just after 9 p.m. in the southbound lane. One vehicle overturned and at least one person was briefly trapped inside.

Investigators have not released the name of the person who died.
