Matchup to Watch
LeBron James vs. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: MKG had a big challenge his first game back from a broken hand, in the Knicks Carmelo Anthony, and he did well. Guarding James is that much more difficult.
• The Heat has looked surprisingly vulnerable of late, dropping three straight entering last nights game in Philadelphia. They lost to the Knicks, Nets and Wizards by a combined 36 points. Theyve played for the most part lately without point guard Mario Chalmers, who has a sore right Achilles tendon. Chalmers went successfully through a workout in Philadelphia Thursday.
• Former Duke star Shane Battier continues to start for Miami and hes still as good as anyone in the NBA at drawing charges. He has 15 for the season, as many as all the other Heat players combined.
• The Bobcats have lost 14 straight games to the Heat, but they gave them a scare in Miami last time. Center Chris Bosh held off the Bobcats with late 3-pointers. Bosh made nine of his last 15 3s entering the 76ers game.
• The Heat recently moved big man Joel Anthony in a salary-trimming move.
Did you know?
When former No. 1 overall pick Greg Oden logged eight minutes for the Heat against the Washington Wizards, it was Odens first playing time since the 2009-10 season. The Heat is being very deliberate in Odens return to the NBA.
