Charlotte police arrest man in connection with multiple car break-ins

Charlotte Mecklenburg police arrested a man Thursday in connection with four car break-ins.

Based on evidence from those break-ins, detectives identified Darris Fulwiley, 38, as the suspect. They found him at a home on Griers Grove Road in Charlotte and took him to the University City Division office for questioning.

One break-in happened Dec. 18 in the 8800 block of University East Drive. A woman said someone smashed a window in her car, which was in the Harbor Inn Restaurant parking lot, and stole her purse.

The other three incidents happened Jan. 7 in the University City YMCA parking lot, on Old Mallard Creek Road. Windows from three cars were smashed and laptops were stolen.

Officers charged Fulwiley with four counts each of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, larceny and damage to property.

Anyone with additional information about the incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
