Trip Queens Charity Poker Tournament

The Yvette W. Ferris Foundation will host its first Queens Charity Poker Tournament 2-8 p.m. Sunday at The Comedy Zone, 900 N.C. Music Factory Blvd., Charlotte. Cost for this no-limit Texas Hold’em tournament is $200 per player or $75 per spectator, to benefit Colorectal Cancer survivors. Details and to register: www.ywff.org.

Salute to Senior Service

Nominations of senior volunteers for the Salute to Senior Service contest will be accepted through March 1. Adults over the age of 65 who volunteer at least 15 hours a month may be nominated. State winners will be determined by popular vote and a $500 donation will be made to their nonprofit organization. The national winner will be selected by a panel of senior care experts and a $5,000 donation will be made to their nonprofit charity. Details and to enter: www.salutetoseniorservice.com.
