Panthers’ Gross joins Pro Bowl contingent

The Panthers’ Pro Bowl contingent keeps getting bigger. Left tackle Jordan Gross was added to the roster Monday to replace San Francisco tackle Joe Staley, who pulled out of the all-star game with an injury.

The addition of Gross gives the Panthers seven players in Hawaii, tying their team record, established in 1996.

Gross, making his third Pro Bowl appearance, joins six teammates: quarterback Cam Newton, fullback Mike Tolbert, center Ryan Kalil, middle linebacker Luke Kuechly, defensive end Greg Hardy and long snapper J.J. Jansen.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera and his staff also are in Hawaii to coach the Jerry Rice-led team.
