Pedestrian struck and killed in Mooresville Lowe’s store parking lot

A 72-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday afternoon in the parking lot of the Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse store on N.C. 150 in Mooresville, police said.

Emergency crews found Kenneth Hoffman of Mooresville pinned under a vehicle in the parking lot at about 1:45 p.m., according to a police statement.

Hoffman was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte and died of his injuries later Monday, police said.

Police identified the driver as Bonifacio Perez, 41, of Hickory. Police wouldn’t release details on Tuesday of what they believe happened, saying they hadn’t finished their investigation.

“Once officers have completed their investigation, the information will be forwarded to the (Iredell County) District Attorney’s Office to review if any charges will be filed,” Mooresville Police Chief Carl Robbins said in a news release Tuesday afternoon.
