Troop 171 Night of Eagles

The Scouts honored, front from left, were Charlie O’Tuel, Joey Edixon and Chris Apgar. The Honor Guard from the Citadel Military College in South Carolina were, back from left, Colby Hendrix, Kyle Hawks and Jackson Dowless.

Boy Scout Troop 171 honored three new Eagle Scouts at a Court of Honor on Dec. 22. Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable and requires years of preparation. The ceremony was held at Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Mooresville.

To become an Eagle Scout each had to perform a service project benefiting a segment of our community.

Chris Apgar’s project was the construction of a camping shelter at the Mooresville Outdoor Education Center.

Joey Edixon constructed book shelves and contributed books for Lake Norman Elementary school.

Charley O’Tuel constructed a storage shed for Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

These Scouts bring the total of Eagle Scouts from Troop 171 to 95. Troop 171 is sponsored by Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
