Matchup to Watch

Carmelo Anthony vs. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: With Jeff Taylor out for the season, Kidd-Gilchrist is really the only Bobcat physically equipped to guard Anthony, a skilled, strong small forward.

Observations

• The Knicks have lost five straight, a streak that started with their loss in Charlotte Jan. 14. If the Bobcats win this game, they clinch the season series 3-1 and a potential tiebreaker in the playoff race.

• Too bad Kemba Walker is out because he often does his best work at Madison Square Garden, stretching back to his days at Connecticut winning the Big East tournament. Last time he played the Knicks in New York Walker finished with 25 points and five assists.

Tap-ins

• A report by the New York Daily News had Knicks center (and ex-Bobcat) Tyson Chandler second-guessing some stragies by coach Mike Woodson.

• The Knicks were clobbered on the boards in their Wednesday home loss to the Philadelphia 76ers (54-39).

Did you know?

Eight of the Bobcats’ 19 victories have come against the dreadful Atlantic Division. The Bobcats are a combined 11-22 against teams from the other five divisions.
