Panthers long snapper J.J. Jansen is keeping a travelogue for the Observer on his experiences and observations from his first Pro Bowl trip.
Yesterday, I got to be a part of the first-ever NFL Pro Bowl Draft. As I told you, I was selected on Day 1 by Team Sanders. I was introduced at the top of the show and spent the rest of the day in the post-draft room. It was really interesting to be a part of a draft where punters and snappers had been selected to play while No. 1 draft picks and multiple-time Pro Bowlers waited around.
Today, we had our first Team Sanders practice at Hickam Air Force Base. What an honor to practice in front of 2,000 (my approximation) of our servicemen and servicewomen and their families. It was also cool to have military transport planes as our backdrop (second only to our uptown view in Charlotte). Practice was quick and sharp, which isn’t surprising given the talent on the field. I can’t wait until Sunday!
