Report: Pope Francis wants to visit U.S. in 2015

Charlotte Observer staff

Pope Francis is interested in visiting the United States in 2015, sources told the National Catholic Reporter this week.

Those anonymous sources cautioned that nothing official is in the works regarding a papal visit and the date is too far out to even be more specific than sometime next year.

Catholic Church officials in Philadelphia told NCR they are hoping Pope Francis will take part in the World Meeting of Families, an event held every three years that will be in Philadelphia Sept. 22-27, 2015.
