North Charlotte house destroyed in fire

No injuries were reported Monday night in a fire that destroyed a house in north Charlotte, authorities say.

The fire was reported about 8:30 p.m. at a residence in the 4100 block of Johnston Oehler Road. That is between Loganville Drive and Mallard Creek Road, not far from Mallard Creek High School.

Firefighters found heavy flames and smoke coming from the structure when they arrived.

Charlotte fire Capt. Mark Basnight said it took a crew of 27 firefighters a little more than a half-hour to subdue the blaze.

Nobody was in the house at the time of the fire.
