The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has charged a man for his role in a motor vehicle accident that injured an officer early Saturday.
Authorities said at around 1:59 a.m., Officer Trevor Gail was in his marked patrol vehicle in the 7000 block of E. Independence Boulevard assisting a tractor trailer that was stuck and blocking the right lane of traffic.
Gail was sitting in his vehicle when an intoxicated driver failed to heed the officers emergency lights and struck Gails vehicle, authorities said.
Gail suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from a hospital.
Police said the driver of the vehicle, Christoper Parish, also received minor injuries from the collision.
Parish was charged with felony serious injury by vehicle, DWI and failure to comply with drivers license restrictions, authorities said.
