No injuries in Gastonia house fire

No injuries were reported in a house fire Sunday evening in Gastonia, officials say.

Residents of the house, in the 300 block of South Kings Street, were cooking food on their front porch when the blaze broke out, according to authorities.

Gastonia firefighters were called about 7:30 p.m. and said they found fire and smoke coming from the front porch and crawl space of the one-story home. Crews subdued the blaze in about five minutes.

Damage was estimated at about $2,000.
