Traffic: Wreck on ramp from I-85 to I-77

Numerous wrecks were reported across the Charlotte region Wednesday morning, and the latest problem is at the familiar trouble site – the ramp from southbound I-85 to southbound I-77.

A collision was reported there about 10 a.m., and although the vehicles have been cleared, slowdowns continue in the area at 11:20 a.m. Backups on southbound I-85 extend back to Graham Street.

Authorities also are working to clear a crash with injuries on Providence Road at Colville Road, although only minor delays are being reported there now.

Here is the 11:20 a.m. update:

Macon Street closure: City transportation officials say the 6400 block of Macon Street will be closed today until further notice. The closure is between West Avenue and Toddville Road, so crews can repair a storm water pipe. Motorists can use Toddville Road, Old Mount Holly Road and West Avenue as a detour.

I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion from earlier wrecks and disabled vehicles; traffic moving 30-35 mph from mile marker 35 down to Gilead Road (Exit 23).

Providence Road inbound ... Crash at Colville Road, with injuries reported; minor to moderate delays.

McCoy Road at Gilead Road, Huntersville ... Collision; moderate delays.
