A Vale man has been charged with having sex with a 13-year-old girl, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Jose Freddy Ambrosio-Gorgonio, 32, of 7500 Palm Tree Drive, Vale – about 50 miles northwest of Charlotte – was arrested Friday and charged with three felony counts of statutory rape/sexual offense of a 13-, 14- or 15-year-old by a defendant six years older, authorities said.

He was placed in the Lincoln County Detention Center under a $150,855 secured bond, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The incident was reported to the Sheriff’s Office by the Lincoln County Department of Social Services on Jan. 17, authorities said.

Authorities say Ambrosio-Gorgonio had sex with the girl, who is unrelated to him, in November.

He was also served warrants for misdemeanor driving while license revoked and improper use of license plate on a vehicle.

Ambrosio-Gorgonio had a first appearance in Lincoln County District Court Monday.
