Matchup to Watch
Dirk Nowitzki vs. Josh McRoberts: Nowitzki continues to be one of the NBA’s great scorers. His running, pull-up jumper is one of the hardest to defend shots in the league. The Bobcats are 1-17 all time against the Mavericks, and Nowitzki is a huge reason.
• The Mavericks missed out on Dwight Howard in free agency, but Jose Calderon and Monta Ellis in the backcourt have kept them in the playoff hunt out West.
• This is the second straight home game against a Southwest Division opponent, after the Bobcats lost by four Saturday to the San Antonio Spurs. The Bobcats are 0-4 against the Southwest this season.
• The Mavericks are top seven in every major offensive category: Points per game, field-goal percentage, free-throw percentage and 3-point percentage.
• Gastonia’s Darrell Armstrong, a longtime NBA point guard, is now a Mavericks assistant coach.
Did you know?
The Mavericks were the last of 29 NBA opponents the Bobcats beat. The Bobcats lost their first 16 meetings before winning 101-97 in Charlotte last season. That was also the only time the Bobcats reached 100 points in this series.
